On Saturday, November 11, 2017, Laredo Community College, hosted the first ever, “Siete Banderas-Male Student Leadership Summit.” The event took place at the Kazen Student Center – Fort McIntosh Campus, in Laredo Texas. The event is the third regional summit hosted by one of our Consortium partners this year.
Participants had the opportunity to hear keynote presentations from members of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Texas State Representative, Honorable Richard Peña-Raymond, Webb County Sheriff, Honorable Martin Cuellar, and Webb County Court of Law II, Honorable Judge Victor Villarreal. The program also included a plenary session about “Latinos in Showbiz”, were participants had the opportunity to learn more about being a Latino in Hollywood. This was followed by breakout sessions, about messages of wisdom, lessons, tips, leadership, and hacks they could use to succedd at achieving their goals. The event concluded with lunch and a meet and greet, were students had the opportunity to meet with prospective mentors.
