Project MALES will kick-off 2018 by hosting its first Symposium for Faculty/Research Affiliates. The event is scheduled for Monday January 8th to Wednesday January 10th, 2018. Our inaugural Symposium will focus on three things:
- Discussing short-term and long-term goals and objectives for the Faculty/Research Affiliates Program through guided exercises.
- Defining a collective research agenda as a community of scholars committed to supporting the educational pathways of male students of color.
- Supporting and enhancing the career goals and trajectories of our Affiliates community through career mapping workshops.
The goal of the Project MALES Faculty and Research Affiliates Program is to raise the visibility of our affiliates’ research on young males of color by amplifying their work to our growing national network of P-16 practitioners and administrators. Project MALES is committed to cultivating and amplifying the work of scholars whose research agenda is well aligned with the goals of our various research and mentoring initiatives. Current Faculty and Research Affiliates include emerging and established scholars whose research focuses on the educational experiences of males of color.
The inaugural Project MALES Symposium for Faculty/Research Affiliates is made possible through funding from Project MALES and RISE for Boys and Men of Color. For more information contact Jorge Burmicky via email at: jorge_burmicky@utexas.edu
