Dr. Victor Saenz and Dr. Emmet Campos recently participated in two important South Texas Valley events: the 3rd Annual South Texas Early College High School (ECHS) Conference and the 2019 South Texas MALE Student Leadership Summit. The 3rd Annual South Texas ECHS Conference was hosted by Ricardo L. Lopez, Jr. Education Specialist, and Melissa Lopez, Administrator in the Region One Education Service Center. The South Texas MALE Student Leadership Summit was co-hosted by Texas Southmost College and the Texas Education Consortium for Male Students of Color (TECMSC) with a welcoming introduction from Armando Ponce, Executive Director of Student Life and Civility.
On March 28th, Dr. Campos keynoted and led a morning workshop session on Building Local and Statewide Partnerships to Support Young Men of Color, which highlighted the Project MALES work. Participants included ECHS and Gear Up administrators and teachers. On March 30th, Dr. Saenz provided his Keynote Address to kick off the South Texas MALE Summit. He and Dr. Campos proceeded with a professional working on Understanding the Male Initiative. Attendees included TSC students, faculty, administrators and staff.
