The Project MALES Student Mentoring Program completed Spring 2019 expanding our program to over eighteen school sites this semester. Our mentoring activities ended with our end-of-semester celebrations honoring our young men for their weekly participation at each of our sites. In addition, we will meet with our Austin ISD, Del Valle ISD, ACAN/Texas CAN, and East Austin College Prep, administrators and staff to discuss highlights and challenges in order to continually build and improve upon our mentoring activities for the next academic year, 2019-20.

On May 6, we concluded with our IMPACT service-learning course with an end-of-semester celebration to recognize our Project MALES mentors for their time and dedication throughout the semester. In the last two weeks, our undergraduate student mentors presented their final research projects on topics that included the school-to-prison pipeline, imposter syndrome, affirmative action, and other areas centered around issues that impact students of color in higher education.
