The last few weeks have been an extraordinary time for all of us. The Project MALES team and the Texas Education Consortium for Male Students of Color remain committed to our mission and to improving educational outcomes for male students of color and also serving our community of members and partners. In our efforts to address the disruptions caused by COVID-19, our team is regularly meeting to build alternatives to mentoring, programming, and professional development opportunities. We are currently working with several partners to design new virtual and distance mentoring approaches as school districts have moved to online learning. We are also adjusting our programming and professional development opportunities to incorporate virtual components for future events. We have yet to make an official decision about our upcoming Texas Male Student Leadership Summer (August 2020), but we will update everyone soon. In the meantime, please be on the lookout for information on an upcoming webinar series focused on serving the needs of male students of color on your campus to help them through the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the weeks and months ahead we will continue to respond to the developing impact of COVID-19 in partnership with our school district and Consortium members. The staff is currently working from home and are available via e-mail and can schedule phone or other options to meet virtually.
We are here for you.
