Over the years Project MALES has partnered up with local organizations in the Central Texas area. We would like to share some of the testimonials we have received from our partners.
“In a time where mentors are needed more than ever, Project Males has been by far the best group we have worked with. The ability of Project MALES to use their age, experience and enrollment in college as a catalyst for building and maintaining relationships is amazing. Our kids ask to see their mentors when issues arise and are disappointed when they are unable to meet. Travis attributes our growth in our mentoring program to the work of Project MALES and absolutely knows the group assisted with our decline in chronic absenteeism for our mentees.” -Ty Davidson, Travis HS Principal
“Project MALES was absolutely amazing with our students at Martin Middle School. I was extremely impressed with the dedication and work ethic of these young men and women. Our students became excited upon hearing that their MALE mentors were on campus. The entire program of project MALES students, faculty and staff acted professionally and communicated well with our administration. I would like to offer a standing ovation to Project MALES for all their hard work. We at Martin Middle School are looking forward to working with them again this coming 2017/2018 school year.” -David Lopez, Martin MS Assistant Principal
“UT Project MALES mentors did some great work with a group of nine ninth grade boys at Reagan this year. They met weekly with the guys in the library, and made it easy by pulling the guys at the end of first period so that the students only missed their Homeroom class, minimizing the time spent outside of the classroom. The group had really bonded by the time I joined them at SXSWedu for a field trip. They seemed to have very positive relationships with their mentors, and equally important, they had learned to support each other. I also had a chance to meet the middle school boys that UT Project MALES worked with at Garcia YMLA and Webb MS. The boys seemed to respect them mentors, and get along well. UT Project MALES provided an important opportunity for me to meet our incoming students and begin their preparation for high school.” -Robert Rosenblatt, Reagan HS Counselor
“Project Males has worked in collaboration with Webb MS since 2014 when we began a mentoring relationship for students who were at risk. Project Males has provided group mentoring for a very difficult group of 8th grade boys and then they followed this group as they transitioned into high school. This collaboration has proven extremely successful with this targeted population and the model works! The students involved showed growth in character as well as giving them a sense of belonging. I strongly support Project Males as a mentoring group for at risk students! They have given many of our students hope for their futures!”-Margaret Bachicha, Webb MS Assistant Principal
“In my opinion Project MALES is an absolutely necessary addition to any campus. The leadership and vision these young men and women instill in students is beyond measure. I personally had the pleasure of meeting many of them as a guest speaker at their Plática Series on the UT campus and could not have been more impressed.”-José M.A. Velásquez, AISD Communications & Marketing Assistant
