WiSTEM Virtual Summer Camp

About SEE

The Summer Engineering Experience is a 2-month virtual camp experience during June and July for rising high school 10th-grade through 12th-grade students of any gender. The experience is designed for participants to explore each engineering major offered at UT Austin and “SEE” engineering through hands-on engineering design challenges, role model engagements, and video content highlighting engineering majors and career paths. The camp includes:

  • weekly SEE informational newsletters (one per week throughout June and July) – each week we will focus on one of our engineering departments to walk through the engineering majors, provide virtual tours, share virtual engineering student panels, showcase engineer professionals, and more.
  • weekly “Role Model Monday” role model webinars (Mondays 12-12:45 pm CT throughout June and July) with alums, current students, corporate partners and others throughout our community who share their experiences and STEM stories
  • two engineering design challenges (one per month) completed asynchronously at your own pace; final products shared via 2-3 minute video in a camp design challenge showcase; alums, current students, corporate partners and others throughout our community review and provide feedback on all submissions
  • end of camp celebration for participants, family members, and teachers with design challenge showcase and UT Austin admissions presentation

Participants spend 1-3 hours weekly on asynchronous camp activities. Other than the live, 50-minute Role Model Monday webinars, all camp experiences can be completed on your own time and on your own schedule. Each newsletter’s content takes about 30 minutes to read and watch all the videos. Design challenges may take 1-3 hours to complete.

Who Should Apply?

SEE is for rising high school 10th grade through 12th grade students (students who will be in their 10th grade, 11th grade, or 12th grade year beginning August/September 2024).

Students in their 9th grade, 10th grade, or 11th grade year of high school at the time of registration are eligible to apply.

Registration Information

Registration fee: $200 per camp paid by May 8, 2024 12:00 p.m. (NOON) CT

$50 cancellation fee per camp through May 15, 2024 12:00 p.m. (NOON) CT
NO refunds after this date

Limited scholarships are available and may be requested as part of the registration process

Registration Opens: January 2, 2024
Registration Deadline: May 8, 2024, 11:59 p.m. CT
Participants will be sent an invoice via email within 10 business days of registration.
If you have requested to be considered for a scholarship notifications of acceptances  will be sent on May 1st.
Deadline to complete additional registration forms, and pay the registration fee: May 15, 2024, 12:00 p.m. (NOON)
