The WiSTEM Externship is a virtual experience designed for STEM undergraduate students to earn a digital microcredential during the winter or summer break. Registration is open to all currently enrolled UT students, regardless of major. Everyone is welcome!
Students can earn the WiSTEM Externship completion badge through this experience while building their resume to advance their career. The externship is comprised of 5 modules that are designed to give students credentialed accomplishments for the resume, talking points for interviews, confidence in professional skills, and training/knowledge/learning that will advance the STEM skillset.
This experience is offered using the IBM SkillsBuild platform so, as a bonus, students also earn 5 microcredentials available in Credly.
Completion of the entire WiSTEM Externship Learning Plan (all modules and courses to earn the digital badge) will take approximately 24 hours in total.
Modules included are the following:
1. Explorations into Mindfulness
2. Design Thinking Practitioner
3. Data Science Foundations – Level 1
4. Working in a Digital World: Professional Skills
5. Job Application Essentials
To keep you on track to completion, all enrollees will receive regular eNewsletters with additional content and opportunities to engage.
Externship AI is the second opportunity that is open and available to all students! Externship AI is designed to give you credentialed accomplishments for your resume, talking points for interviews, confidence in your professional skills, and training/knowledge/learning that will advance your STEM skillset.
Externship AI is virtual, self-paced, takes approximately 18 hours to complete, and consists of 3 modules:
1. Artificial Intelligence Fundamentals
2. Agile Explorer
3. Semiconductor 101
